Hi there, I'm Andrea!

Like many of you reading this right now, I am a wife and mom, and along with being a professional potato chip tester (see photo evidence) that also makes me the CDM in my house: Chief Decision Maker

As the chief decision maker for all the important stuff like which restaurant we're going to and what goes in our shopping cart at Target or on Amazon, I have learned a few things:

  1. First of all, no one has an opinion on what they want for dinner until after it's already served. Ugh.
  2. Secondly, that we all have a very false sense of security around the safety of the personal care products on the market for us to buy and slather all over our skin, and the skin of our children.

Companies in the United States are allowed to use toxic ingredients - which have been linked to cancer, reproductive issues and hormone disruptions - without even disclosing them to us, the consumer.

As a mother and CDM, that scares the shit out of me.

As a nutrition professional that teaches women how to fix their broken hormones, it enrages me, and I can get pretty fired up about the blatantly misleading marketing terms like "natural" that lead us to believe our products are harmless. (Meanwhile, they are destroying our hormone production and contain proven carcinogens.)

Let's look at the numbers, shall we?

The United States has not passed  a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938 .

Doesn't this seem insane? There are 80,000+ chemicals on the market now that weren't even invented yet in 1938!

Across the pond, the European Union has spent the past two decades restricting or banning approximately 1,400 harmful chemicals  and ingredients from personal care products. The United States: 30 partially banned ingredients.

Meanwhile, our friends across the pond have spent 20 years creating regulation around chemicals that have been proven unsafe for humans.

There are cosmetic companies here in the United States that make separate formulations to comply with European regulations....but still sell the unsafe formulations here in the U.S. where there is very little oversight.

So, until about a year ago, I thought I was doomed to use "crunchy" products that didn't work at all, or continue to smear known hormone-disruptors all over my skin.

(Option B wasn't really an option, and coconut oil isn't really the answer to every skin woe. Believe me, I tried.)

I was literally using my kitchen mixer to concoct moisturizers at this point, and they were a greasy mess. I'll spare you the details, but just imagine that every piece of clothing we owned was stained with coconut oil. #goodintentions

Enter: Beautycounter

Although the personal care industry is largely unregulated in the United States, Beautycounter is pushing for more regulation and higher standards for safety.

Then, I took the plunge and ordered some Beautycounter products at the advice of some of my holistic nutritionist friends. I'll be honest, I didn't have very high hopes that there were safer makeup + skin products that actually worked

Much to my surprise, Beautycounter is LEGIT and I have never looked back!

Nowadays, I am partnering with this awesome company, which is completely disrupting the beauty industry, because I truly believe that what we put on our bodies is as important as what we put in them.

And you already know how I feel about the food that we put in them!

Beautycounter is a Schedule B corporation, like Toms shoes, for example, which means it's a brand with a purpose and a vision for change.  How many companies do you know that are actively lobbying for more regulation in their own industry?

By compiling The Never List with over 1500 questionable ingredients that will never be used in our products, this company is giving the finger to mainstream cosmetics full of heavy metals and hormone disruptors, and my inner #rebel loves that I get to be a part of this story.

You can get a great snapshot of the products and purpose in the short video below:

The best part?

Beautycounter cosmetics perform as well as, if not better than, the most luxe department store brands.  With a 60-day no-questions-asked return policy to back it up.

so let's talk products, already!

HERE'S A LITTLE PEEK AT SOME OF THE PRODUCTS I USE EVERY SINGLE DAY

CHARCOAL CLEANSING BAR

This charcoal bar detoxifies and cleans skin by pulling out excess oil, dirt and impurities with the power of charcoal...but without drying out the skin. Basically, it's the facial cleanser my 15 year old self wishes I would have had.

BRIGHTENING FACIAL OIL

If you've never tried a facial oil, you don't know what you're missing. This bad boy is packed with Vitamin C and helps fade sun spots (yes, please!) plus moisturizes like crazy...without feeling greasy. By far my favorite skincare product!

TOUCH-UP CONCEALER PEN

I don't wear foundation every single day, but drawing a few lines of concealer underneath the eyes takes about 20 seconds and never hurt anyone...especially on those days where you're not exactly feeling (or looking) too refreshed.

HYDRATING LIP GLOSS

Like I said, my daily makeup routine is minimalistic, and as long as I have a swipe of mascara and some lip gloss....I am out the door. The reason I LOVE these lip glosses is the sheer color looks really natural without feeling sticky.

MEN, KIDS, BABIES....WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED, TOO!

Along with a super luxe haircare line, you can find safer products for everyone in the family (or on your gift list).

there are 4 ways you can support beautycounter's mission:

1. SHOP AS A CUSTOMER HERE

Luckily, you have the ability to vote with your dollars every time you make a purchase for your family.

By swapping out your current makeup and personal care products for safer ones, you're supporting big changes in the beauty industry.

I would love the opportunity to introduce you to the best products for your skin...email beautycounter@andreanordling.com with any questions.

2. JOIN AS A BAND OF BEAUTY MEMBER HERE

For just $29 bucks, you can sign up as a Band of Beauty member and get some great perks:

  • Complimentary gift with membership (these change often and are super valuable!)
  • Free shipping on orders over $100
  • 15% Product Credit for future orders
  • Access to special offers and promotions just for members
  • Additional Free gift from me with membership (I love sending #happymail)

3. host a social with me + get free products HERE

Getting together with a group of friends and sharing great products (that you know they're going to LOVE) is so fun.

  • If you're local to me in Minnesota, we can do this in person!
  • Not local? We can do an online event (which are great)
  • OR you can gather your group for a brunch or evening event and I'll send you a "Spa In A Box" that I will share with your group over our computer screen while you have a few mimosas and shop with your friends. Easy peasy.

Bonus: As the hostess, you get all the rewards for the purchases from your event! (50% off numerous items and free products depending on how many sales your event generates) PLUS free gifts from me!

4. SPREAD THE WORD AS A CONSULTANT (LIKE I DO!) HERE

I love talking about nutrition, food, hormones and what to snack on...but there's something extra SUPER satisfying about getting a little "girly" and sharing the benefits of safer beauty products and how removing toxic skin products contributes to overall healing of our bodies.

You don't have to be a nutritionist or wellness professional to share the message about great beauty products (although it is a great complement to those businesses) and I love to mentor new consultants in any industry to work with me.

No, I don't have any secret formula or special gift for "selling" anything...I just share samples or suggestions about my favorite products with people when they ask. Pretty simple, right?!

In fact, everyone on my team gets 1:1 online business coaching from me in addition to the series of online courses I created just for building your direct sales biz online without feeling salesy or having any special technical experience.

As a Beautycounter consultant like me, you get a 25% discount on all your products without any monthly minimum orders, inventory, or sales quotas. #nopressurezone

our health is more than just a diet + exercise equation

As you probably already know, I am uber-passionate about removing chronic stressors, toxins, fixations and overwhelm from my life, and inspiring other tired ladies to do the same.  (That's probably why you're here, am I right?!)

Sometimes that overwhelm and those toxins take the form of of food, which I talk about quite a bit, and other times they are in the form of cleaning products, skin care, air fresheners and makeup. (Who knew?!)

To get a snapshot of the toxicity in your current products, download the Healthy Living App by EWG and start scanning or searching your current products. The 1-10 rating will tell you everything you need to know.

At any rate, there is never just one cause for messed up hormones, weight gain, shitty digestion or chronic fatigue.  Luckily, by supporting all areas of our health, great healing can occur...and if we can minimize the overwhelm, guilt, perfectionism and fixations along the way, that's where the magic happens.  #goals

And on that note, let's cheers to great skin, happy hormones, abundant energy and laughing at all of it everyday!
